Facebook... The New Blogging???

I wish I had a good excuse for my lack of blogging over this past 5 months, but in reality its just pure laziness... That and the easiness of posting something on facebook vs. blogging it. Nonetheless I need to get better at documenting Jacks life because there are so many fun memories being made and they are going by too fast.

Since my last update Jack continues to grow. He has no intention of slowing down, and though its so much fun to watch his personality grow, its sad that I am closer to having a toddler then a baby. He now says 4 words:

"MaMa"
"DaDa"
"Oggie" (doggie)
"Uh-Oh"

Doggie is by far his favorite thing in this world, and Bauer is starting to really like him back being that Jack feeds him his food. Jack loves to be outdoors, and loves going for walks and over to the park to swing. He also loves to have books read to him, but you have to read the ones with the thick pages because he has to be the one to turn the pages. His favorite books are:

"Sheep in a Jeep"
"This is the House where Jack lives"
"Water, Water Everywhere"
"Good Night Moon"

With Good Night Moon he is really funny because he only likes the pages that are in color. So as soon as you flip to a non-color page he quickly turns it to the next color page. Its a real struggle when Jeff reads him his book because Jeff's favorite page is "Good Night Nobody" which happens to be a non-color page to its a competition between the two of them to see if it gets to be read.

Another funny thing that happened recently is something our daycare lady told us. She takes care of a couple kids, but Jack is the only infant. So come nap time the rest of the kids sleep on mats in one room while Jack is in the play pin in another. Well one day she was putting the older kids down first so she was laying the mats out and Jack crawled up onto one and laid his head down. She said he kept looking up out of the corner of his eye to see if she was going to move him, but she said it was obvious he wanted to be a big kid and take his nap in there. So she gave him his blanket and he took a nap with the big kids. When he woke up he was so proud that he had slept on a mat he woke the other kids up laughing. Needless to say she hasn't let him do it again yet.

Here is some fun pictures of just a few things we have done over the last couple of months...

Jack started swimming...

And who doesn't take a good nap after a good swim!

Uncle Davy is officially legal... Even though there has to be a law against that facial hair!

Jack still loves his tongue...

Hanging out with Grandma and cousin Bo while momma and daddy celebrate the big 2 year!

Jack got a new cousin little Lucy... Isn't she sweet!

Aunt Angie got hitched!

Have you ever seen a more handsome little guy in a tux! I realize I am a bit bias...

We went to Lake Powell...

Jack loves his cousin Lucy, he was so concerned when she didn't like her bath he reached over and grabbed her hand.

We call this the Jack pack!

He had so much fun, outdoors with doggie and grandpa... he was in heaven. He fought the sleep as long as he could, but eventually he gave in.

How time flies when your having fun...

Jack is 6 months old!

Its crazy to think that 6 months ago this little man wasn't in our lives, and now he is the most important and exciting part of them. Its even crazier how fast this last 6 months has gone. It amazes me how slow pregnancy goes, but how fast life moves once you have the baby. I blinked and I have a 6 month old! Here are just a couple fun facts about our little Jack Jack...

1. Jack's favorite thing in the whole world is our dog Bauer. He smiles and laughs whenever Bauer comes in the room. No matter what mood he is in, Bauer can always get a smile on his face. Both Jeff and I know that as much as we want his first words to be Mommy or Daddy, it will most likely be Doggie.

2. Jack's second favorite thing is his rubber ducky. Its a diaper bag necessity. It also brings a smile to his face and causes him to blow bubbles.

3. Jack loves his bath. He hasn't quite figured out that he is the one that is splashing water in his face, but he loves it none the less.

4. Jack is a great sleeper. He has been sleeping through the night since he was just over 3 months old. Both at night and for his nap all he needs is to be put in his bed with his "blanky." He pulls his blanket up to his face, rolls to his side and next thing we know he wakes up with a smile on his face and talking away.

5. Jack loves his mom and dad. We both of course think we are his favorite, but from what I can tell so far we play the pretty typical mom and dad roles to him. Dad is definitely more fun to him, but he seems to want mom whenever anything is wrong.

6. We can definitely tell Jack is going to be independent. He has never been much of a cuddler, and always has to be facing forward so he can see whats going on. He loves his bouncer and we think he mostly likes it because it gives him the freedom to bounce, spin around and play with his toys at his own free will.

7. For the most part Jack likes everyone. He particularly loves a little girl at daycare named Tiana. She was the first person to ever make him laugh. Now there is a new little boy there named Max, and no one knows why, but Jack doesn't seem to like him. Anytime Max gets close to him Jack fusses at him. Its the strangest thing... lets hope he isn't already starting with the rooster of the coop thing...

8. Jack loves it when we fast forward the DVR. He laughs and laughs and laughs. Its his favorite show.

9. His second favorite show would be Barney. Well at least he loves the opening song to Barney, after that he will go back to whatever he was doing, but those eyes are glued to the TV during that opening song.

10. Jack is off the charts for his height, and is in the 75th percentile for weight. And to think I was stressing out those first couple of weeks that he wasn't getting enough to eat!

11. Jack isn't a huge fan of car rides. He usually is okay as long as the car is moving, but as soon as it stops at a stop light he starts to fuss.

12. Jack's night time bottle feeding is quite the process. We put baby cereal in that bottle so we use a different nipple then the ones he is use to. Long story short he doesn't like the cereal nipple, so every night we make him two bottles. One regular bottle, and one with cereal. We have to start the feeding with the regular bottle, and then when he is almost asleep we switch the bottles. What a funny little man.

As you can see Jack is full of personality. I could go on and on about him, but we would be here all day. I am so grateful to be his mom and look forward to the next fun, loving and adventurous 6 months!

Our little family.

Jack and his Daddy.

Jack and his Mommy.

This is pretty typical, Jack always watching Bauer.

Apparently smiling in pictures is a much needed lesson for 3 of the 4 of us. "One of these things is not like the others..."

Boys being boys.

All grown up.

A boy and his dog.

This picture just pulls at my heart strings. I love these boys!

And I saved the best for last! I am obsessed with this little man!

Newborn Pictures

So I just realized I never posted Jack's newborn pictures! These pictures were taken when Jack was about 3 weeks old. I had really wanted to have a couple of pictures taken of the whole family, but unfortunately the week the pictures were taken was the same week we lost our beloved uncle Jack. So Jeff was down in Phoenix with a much more important purpose.

On May 14th we are getting Jack's 6 months pictures done, so we will get some precious shots of Jack with his daddy then!

Quick Update...

Big week for little Jack... He got his first tooth and he also rolled over for the first time! Is there anyway to make them stop growing? I want him to stay my baby for awhile but he seems to have other plans!

I know, I am slacker!

Miss me? I have to say I had the greatest of intentions to do regular posts after Jack was born, but reality has had other priorities for me. So I am so sorry its been so long. Here is some pictures of things we have been up to!

Jack had his first Christmas. We kept it pretty small, but he did get my favorite book "I'll love you forever" and of course I couldn't help crying as I read it to him. I am so lame!

And just because Jack is around now doesn't mean that Bauer got out of putting on his Christmas bells!

Christmas Eve Jack got his first hair cut by his Aunt Ashley. This was at 6 weeks old, and he has gotten one every 3 weeks since. And I thought my hair grew fast!

He watched his first of many USC games... Go Trojans!

Jeff turned 32...

... And I turned 29... ouch last year in my 20's.

Jack made his first trip to Glenwood and he was all decked out in Glenwood cloths thanks to Aunt Angie and Nat! Here he is with his uncle Tyler.

Jack hung out with his Phoenix cousins Grant...

And Katie...

And here is Jack with his cousin Ryder who he normally loves... but we caught him in a rare moment.

Jack also has his first friend Gavyn who was born just 3 days after Jack.

Jack started smiling around 2 months...

... And started laughing around 4 months.

In March Jeff and I ventured on our first nights away from our little one. My dad and his wife Sheryl took all of us kids down to Vegas to see the Beattles show while Jack hung out with my Grandma Kim and Grandpa Kent.

Jack started eating cereal, and this mess on his face is why his bath is the last part to his day.

Jack had his first Easter. His favorite part was the colorful plastic eggs. My favorite part of course was hanging out with Jack, but a close second was the annual Easter egg hunt we do at my Mom's. Jeff on the other hand thinks my family is a little juvenile, and doesn't really get into the spirit of the hunt, but this was the first year our step siblings joined in the crazyness and they made it awesome. Of course history repeated itself, and I was once again the champion. It was teams so I did have the help of my brother Davy. My step sister Adrian had the misfortune of being paired up with Jeff. About half way through the hunt Adrian (who is just as competitive as me) turned to me and said "your husband isn't taking this seriously!" So I look around to find Jeff walking around with the basket on his head eating cinnamon rolls and pointing out the eggs to other players rather then picking them up for himself. So sorry Adrian, now your exempt from him for at least 5 years!

And I attempted my first "Bunny" cake. Looks like I have a lot to learn from Grandma Patsy!

But more then anything we just hung out.

We are loving every minute we get to spend with this little guy. If you can't tell he is definitely the apple of our eye!
